Home Sweet Home

I have returned to the State of Texas...along with my momma. It really is a state of mind, lol.

Anyway, due to health reasons, she's a member of our household now. I promise that not every post is going to be about this. :0) I'm hoping to get back to my regular planned topics, but we're still in a bit of an adjustment phase, getting her set up with doctor's appointments and settling into routines and such.

* * * * *

Oregon was as beautiful as you'd expect. Lots of trees and green-ness. Also--deer where my mom lived out in the country. Two other things that there were a lot of in Mom's neck of the woods--double wide trailer homes and solar panels!

Here are a few pictures from Oregon...

Mount Shasta in the southern distance (across the border, actually, in California).

Deer in the back yard...they'd just jumped over the fence into the yard when I took the dogs out at one point. Once I recovered my wits, I was able to get this (not great) picture.

And here...if you have the volume up loud enough--is the sound of the wind through the pine trees. Such an amazing sound.

But we escaped Oregon in the nick of time because this week--SNOW! They're supposed to get one to three inches every night all this week. Yikes!

And

Whew!! ~ that we traveled to Texas before that hit. :0)

Hope you're all well, my dear blog readers.

I'm going to shoot for once a week for the next month or so until things settle around here. Bear with me.

Have a great week.

Update...

 Hello...

*waves*

Just a quick update to explain my lack of posting...

I had to make a last-minute trip out of state to help facilitate my mom's move to Texas. In fact, I'm writing to you from Oregon.

It's been a challenging couple of weeks trying to keep up with a minimum amount of day job and make progress here, plus keep up with Mom and her three fur babies.

I don't have much brain power or energy left for much else.

So there will be no posts for at least another couple of weeks.

Thanks for you understanding, patience, and any prayers you want to send our way.

Take care.

My Life Just Took a Detour

My big 2022 Goals post was ready to go. Pinky promise / pinky swear. But then life happened. My momma is uprooting her life and moving here to Texas. In with us. Due to medical issues. (Hers, not mine.)

It's all fine...

Except...

The trajectory of my life for the next year or two or three just changed. As a result, my goals for the year needed to be adjusted. My original list had twelve goals on it. Some of them were big. What was I thinking? I was already stressing about them. That's no way to feel about your goals at the start of a brand new year.

So I had to do some serious re-vamping of that list. And I did. And you know what?

I feel relieved.

I wanted to be super ambitious this year, but I already felt the weight of that, and then I got to thinking and maybe a fallow year as far as actual writing goes is really more to my benefit for various reasons. And that was before my mom's arrival came into the picture.

So give me until Thursday and I'll share the updated, more realistic goals list for 2022.

I'm also really looking forward to spending time with my mom. I haven't seen her in years and years. On the other hand, it's going to be interesting around here with two mother-daughter dynamics going on, lol...

Have a great week.

Happy Birthday, Mom!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

Hope you have a super day tomorrow.

Unfortunately this is the only "recent" picture I have of my mom and me--and it's a good five years old now. We've lived so far apart for so long and traveling to her neck of the woods isn't a day's drive. And airfare is usually beyond the limits of my pocketbook.

But I suppose I should try to make something happen....neither of us are getting any younger.

Happy International Women's Day

to all the women who are pioneers in the movement for gender equality.

My mom was one of those women, in a sense. She was a single mom from the time I was two. I don't know all the challenges she had to face in being a woman on her own with a small child, but she stood on her own two feet, did what she needed to do,

Thanks, Mom! I love you. Hope you're having a super day.

Happy Birthday Momma

Hope you have a super day!!!

In other news, saying so long...

Sonshine's ship left on deployment yesterday. He won't be just a plane-ride away for the next six to nine months.

So long, Sonshine--fair winds and following seas to you and the entire strike group.

Home again...

It's been a crazy ten days as I've been traveling! But I'm back and ready to share some pictures. I can't share everything because of some of the things going on in the world. I don't want to put my son or any of our military in danger.

I saw my momma for the first time in  sixteen years and that was such a wonderful treat! It was hard to say goodbye at the airport.

Here we are...the same but sixteen years older.

More on Wednesday!
