Oh the weather outside is...

...f*cking frightful. Pardon my "French."

The chance of snow came back with a vengeance--100%--and we have at least three / four inches on the ground.

Thank goodness I took my daughter's suggestion to grocery shop Saturday morning, (I usually go Sunday morning.) despite the hassle I went through. My Walmart was closed, so I had to go to a different one whose layout was somewhat similar, but not 100% the same, so I had to go up and down every aisle and backtrack a few times. But the roads were clear and the temps tolerable.

Because this is what I awoke to Sunday morning:

This was Sunday evening, just before sunset:

And this was this morning (Monday):

I know the whole nation is experiencing crazy weather. Some parts are more used to this. We are not.

Usually we get a dusting and it's warm enough that it melts within 24 hours and we're back to standard conditions.

Not this year, baby!

We've hunkered down and I'm working from home...if there's even work to do. I'm sure most of our clients' employees are stuck at home unless they're essential and I know they're not. So--good old fashioned snow day.

The problem is, we're not going to warm up for any of this to melt away by tomorrow. We stay below freezing through Thursday...with another round of snow expected (90% as of this writing) on Wednesday...

Last year was one for the record books and it looks like this is year is starting off with a bang as well--

Hope you're warm and safe. Take care and have a good week. Catch you Wednesday...

Time To Hunker Down...

So we're looking at six straight days of at or below freezing temperatures... There might be a blip of temperatures a tick or two higher, but those high would only last a few hours. We have a forecasted low of ZERO!

What even is this??

On the bright side...our chance of snow on Sunday has disappeared and we might get it on Wednesday instead, although at this rate I image it'll disappear.

Most of you who read this blog actually know me and you probably know how much I hate the cold... For the rest of you--I hate being cold. I've taken to layering my clothes for the day in a lap-size electric blanket so they'll be warm when I get dressed in the morning!

I know it's February in Texas and that it is normally our coldest month, but this is taking things just bit too far.

Okay, </whine>. There are lots of people--our blessed farmers for one--who have to go out in it and deal with it in order that the rest of us can eat. So may the Lord bless them and keep them and watch over them.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

There is TV in my immediate future!

Yeah, like this afternoon! It's ten years or more since I've had access to live TV. When we still attended church and there was a big push to get out of debt, we got rid of cable. I've never missed it much until last year when Sonshine left home and the house was super quiet. I've finally adjusted to that, but I've wanted to get back into watching NASCAR and baseball and to checking out hockey. It's also be nice to be up to date on TV shows I'm watching rather than a week or more behind.

So anyway, DH needed to upgrade our Internet connection at home and was able to secure basic cable for additional $20/$30 (we'll see how it actually shakes out). It's what I was hoping to pay anyway, so having better Internet in the bargain is a boon. Now if we could only get a WIFI device that worked consistently.

In other news, we had a storm blow through this past Monday. Tornado watch, possibly tornado warning, but no TV, so I had no idea what was going on outside except that it was blowing pretty hard and it was keeping me awake. See what my priorities are??

So when I got up Tuesday morning, I was rather surprised to see this:

I heard nothing!

Damage was only to the fence and relatively easy to fix but we gotta cut up the huge length of tree. I think we'll be hiring out!

Anyway...  hope you have a great rest of the week. See you Friday!

Monday Storm Edition

Last Thursday afternoon, a wild thunderstorm pin-balled its way across the Metroplex. DD works in the northwest quadrant of Fort Worth and we live on the far east side. Her work got nothing. We lost two large branches out of the dead tree and the whole neighborhood was littered with tree debris from the wind and hail and sideways rain. Limbs and trees were downed as well. Now, just a few miles northish--in the business park where our office is--nothing. There was rain and some wind, but the streets were free of the tree debris...

We lost power for a few hours, but it was back on before bed time. The Internet, however, has been stroppy all weekend.

Sonshine and I spent some time this weekend cleaning up the front yard.

Hope you had a lovely weekend without too much clean-up to do.

Catching up of a different sort...

No, I still haven't gotten downright sick, though yesterday I woke up with a headache. And then cleaning products hindered my ability to completely get rid of it. So I had to stop cleaning!

I realized as I was downloading pictures from this week's football game is that I've taken all kinds of pictures to share here on the blog, but that I haven't actually done so. So today and maybe Wednesday and maybe even Friday, depending on how many pictures there are, I'm gonna do just that.

So let's get started, shall we...

Three weeks or so ago, we had a storm system move in and it poured down rain. Even at seventeen and a half, Sonshine still likes to play in the rain. Note the level of the water in the gutter--up to Sonshine's ankles. Close to four inches... And though it's harder to tell, the water almost completely covered the street from one side to the other.

One of my azaleas finally bit the big one. So I dug them both up and replanted the surviving one into a large pot and left it on my patio. I think it likes it better--more shade during the course of the day. It's still alive as of this morning, at any rate. :)

And one more random picture...

Handsome, the huge tree lizard, hung out on the patio one day.

So what's going on with you??
