Final Revisions

I've received the second half of the revisions to the current work-in-progress! And I'm definitely excited to have them back. This book will be infinitely better because of this editor's touch. Can't wait to dive in tomorrow morning. :0)

 In other news...

There really is no other news at the moment. Oh wait, there is...

As you know, we own our own business. After twelve years, we're finally getting kitchen space. It'll be nice to have a place to prep meals and eat them that aren't my desk. We'll also be splurging on an ice maker and a hot/cold water dispenser.

We'll also be painting the tech area and buying news desks in an effort to spruce up the environment for the employees.

Everything is moving a high speed right now which is not my favorite pace, but the changes are long overdue, much anticipated, and worth the short term chaos.

I'm trying to get back on the meal plan wagon...the weekend was a loss, but I've done well so far this week. My motivation was / is pumpkin cupcakes over Thanksgiving weekend, so I'm trying really hard to earn them.

Weekdays are definitely easier than weekends and after being off the wagon for so long. Consuming sugars and carbs for that time frame, re-awakened my sweet tooth--which is always just taking a catnap anyway--and lowered my resistance levels.

On top of all that--first world problems, I know--my stash of Plantation Mint has run out and the stores are out as well. What I discovered is that after decades, Bigelow has decided to change the name from Plantation Mint to Perfectly Mint.

I think the stores aren't replenishing their stock because of that for some crazy insane reason and it's wreaking havoc with my morning writing time and my stomach. My stomach doesn't care for the other flavors that early in the morning. The scent and flavor are just an ingrained part of my routine and I miss them terribly.

I have setup a subscription from Amazon so that I no longer have to worry about whether or not my local grocery store has it. The problem is waiting another ten days or so for the first delivery. I might just have to break down and place a smaller order to tide me over.

Did I mention how much I really miss my tea?

Have a great rest of your week!

Happy Spring!

Looks like spring is mostly here to say. We dipped below 50* this am, but that will probably not happen many more times, if at all.

My novella is coming along...I've started the editing process a little because first draft is due Monday and as I mentioned before, the story is a hot mess. Any time not focused on work or hockey or chores this weekend, as well as my lunch date with a friend, will be spent on this project. It's gonna be a long weekend.

Stars update: my Dallas Stars won their first game!! against their Central Division rivals, the Nashville Predators!! this past Wednesday evening!! It was a huge deal for the team to win there and take some wind out of the Preds' sails. As well as that of all the people who think Nashville's win of the series as a whole (best 4 of 7) is a foregone conclusion.

Anyone who's watched the teams play each other, especially, this year, knows that it's going to be a scrappy bout. The Preds are gonna come back hard in game two, scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Send your winning wishes to Nashville tomorrow afternoon, and don't forget:

BE LOUD. WEAR GREEN. GO STARS!!!

Have a great weekend.

Yippee Skippy!

I'm so excited. I'm finally making progress on a writing project. And decent progress at that. It feels good.

Of course, my newfound gumption comes right in the middle of editing and series guide projects for others, but I'm almost done with them. Then I can focus all my spare time and attention on my own stuff for awhile and how exciting is that?

Looking forward to hanging out with writer peeps tomorrow, too.

The heat wave lingers on and looks like the crazy hot temps are hanging around a few days longer. UGH. I'm going to start eating ice cream by the half gallon instead of the pint. :0)

Have a great weekend and STAY COOL!!

Contest entries, critiques, and edits, oh my...

Five contest entries, one critique, and one short story in edit mode.

Normally, I love to judge contest entries and critique others' work. But I've got a distraction that I'm having fun with and am finding it hard to put aside to do this other stuff I've committed to. (The edits are actually going well, and I got in a lot of extra time this morning, so I'm not complaining.)

I've actually been fairly productive at work even with the distraction. I really just need to put my mind to getting those entries read and judged. Just set aside an hour or two a day for the next however-many days to devote to it and git 'em done.

But now it's the weekend and I'll be able to continue my Robin Hood rewatch, too...

I really need to be a housewife again!
