TGIF

Mommas don't let your babies grow up to be outlaws...

...unless they're hockey players masquerading as outlaws.

My man, Roman Polak, in his getup for the Winter Classic.

The Dallas Stars got kitted up by western wear retailer Lucchese for their arrival at the event of the regular NHL season.

Have a great weekend!!

The Weekend: Dallas Stars Edition...

My hockey partner in crime and I had a Dallas Stars filled weekend--first we attended Friday night's game and got our first and only bobble head of the season. Behold:

The Captain...JAMIE BENN

Not only were we early enough to snag a bobble head each, we watched warmups on the glass for the first time in a long time. All pictures taken by DD, aka Hockey Partner in Crime.

 Roman Polak and Stephen Johns

 Tyler Seguin

 Esa Lindell

 Roman Polak (L) & Esa Lindell (R)

 Roman Polak (L/C) & John Klingberg (R)

 Roman Polak
(there's a lot of him, cuz he's my fave)

 Anton Khudobin

 Blake Comeau

Tyler Seguin

On Saturday, we attended open practice as the players were encouraged to sign autographs--which most of the time is not scheduled. We hit the jackpot--DD got 8 and I got 7, so we were more than thrilled.

 Stephen Johns

 Jamie Oleksiak

 Radek Faksa

 Roope Hintz

 Tyler Seguin

 Miro Heiskenen

 Denis Gurianov

Jason Dickenson

And yes, I can identify each player by number or by face. :0)

Sadly, they lost Friday, but they deserved to as they played a crap game. However, they won on Sunday.

So sprinkles for everyone!!!

Have a great week.

My Hockey Crush / Boyfriend

Look at this face!

This is my favorite Stars player Roman Polak... No, he's not the hottest or the most skilled player on the team, but last year he came in when several players were out due to injury and post-traumatic headaches. And he played. He was physical for us and he stuck up for his teammates, letting others know they couldn't push the Stars around and he just really endeared himself to me.

So much so, I spent money on a custom jersey with his name and number. :0)

Anyway, he went down in the first game of the season with what ended up being a cracked sternum. But he's back now and I couldn't be more thrilled and THANKFUL that he's healed and of course that he's back on the ice.

Anyway--happy hump day! See you Friday.

The Stars at Night, Are Big and Bright...

Monday evening was the Season Ticket Holder Event at the Dallas Zoo. It's an annual opportunity for season ticket holders to get picture or autographs with the players.

Here is me with my favorite Star... Roman Polak.

I got his signature on the poster I took the game last Saturday that elicited a smile. And he remembered me. :0)

As for the rest of the players, they either signed the event flyer or one of my season tickets if there was one with their image on it.Sadly, as I mentioned previously, not every player got his likeness on a ticket although there were enough tickets to do so.

Anyway, the girls and I had a blast, although DD and I were aching by the time we got back to the car from all the walking around.

Have a great rest of your week. Catch you on Friday.

The Stars at night...

...are big and bright!!

So, yes, I got to see a few faves and missed out on a couple of others. That's the way it goes. Maybe next year. :0)

Fair warning--I'm horrible at smiling for the camera, so in a couple of these pictures I look super dorky.

Here we go...

Not the first picture I took, but far and away the most coveted:

Little ol' me and TYLER SEGUIN!!!

As for the rest...(well, a few are still on DD's phone). But what I do have at the moment...

Me and:

 TYLER PITLICK

 BEN BISHOP

ALEXANDER RADULOV

It doesn't look like Alex was having a lot of fun, although I'd seen him smile a few minutes prior, so maybe he was tired...maybe the language barrier...

DD and I had a wonderful time hanging out and taking pics with our Dallas Stars.

Be loud!! Wear green!! Go Stars!!

PS--As far as my 100 Things Challenge item...I won a purse in an auction many moons ago but never used it, because it was more fancy than everyday use and it wasn't really my thing. Also I was after other parts of the package. So it's been sitting in the closet for the better part of ten years.

Have a great rest of your week.

What's a fan supposed to think...?

Today I'm lamenting...

Last weekend news broke that Nate Schmidt, defenseman for the Vegas Golden Knights, has been suspended for the first 20 games of the hockey season for violating policy on performance enhancing drugs.

Of course, you never want to see this kind of story, but when it's about a player you really like--whose jersey is the first-ever authentic sports jersey you've ever owned and bought for yourself--it's a blow. You think, "no way, not this guy."

Even once you've read all the articles and you hear arguments from both sides, it's still hard to know what the truth really is.

Based on the little I've read on the NHL's testing policy (very sparse), it stands to reason that we don't hear about hockey players testing positive for anything. But are there really no NHL players using any kind of drugs? There are between 700 and 1000 players in the league at any given time. The whole thing begs a few questions... Why this guy? Why now? Why a player who appears to be well-liked across the board?

This just makes me really sad.

Nate Schmidt...that is all...

My new favorite player is Nate Schmidt. He's been a great player for the Vegas Golden Knights and I've never seen an interview where he wasn't smiling. He's also pretty articulate and seems happy to talk to the media.

I know you don't care what he has to say, but here's YouTube video of a interview from last fall right before training camp.

Happy Friday, y'all...and enjoy the weeknd, but always remember SOME GAVE ALL...
