Before and After: New Chompers!

I finally have some new chompers-- er, new teeth, that is!

Just over two years ago, during the height of pandemic mask wearing, I had three teeth at the front of my mouth pulled. I figured "why not?" No one would see my smile for a while.

The plan then was to get implants. A bone graft was done to support the posts for said implants. But as time went along, I felt less and less comfortable spending $10+K on three or fourth teeth. And, no, I am not kidding. Implants are not cheap.

But I finally reached a point where I was done being without teeth. I considered pulling all my teeth and going with full dentures, but at, say conservatively, $250 each for pulling teeth, plus the cost of a full denture, that was still a pricey prospect. And my teeth are in decent shape, so no real need to pull them all out.

I went to see a denture specialist and for 1/10 the cost of the original plan, I now have a partial denture filling out the gap on my lower jaw. And no more insecurities about my gap-toothed smile.

Forgive the awful pictures--selfies are not my strong suit...especially not at 4:30am when the after pic was taken.

What do you think?

Just in time for my writers group holiday party in person. I don't have to take them out to eat as I have had to do with my little spacer appliance. Won't that be nice?

Now if only I'd bought that box of hair color...

Have a great weekend.

Before and After: My New Desk

I'm loving it, to be honest.

The room isn't finished by a long shot, but the desk is in place and I'm slowly deciding what comes back into my office space. I've sorted through quite a bit already. Some is getting packed away for future consideration, but some is being thrown away and some is going to the donation station.

With everything going on my life, clearing out unwanted stuff helps lighten the load. I'd read or watched something a while back that posited that even though we may love a thing or things, it still weighs on us because we might, for example, still have to dust/clean it. It still requires thought/brain power. So I'm trying to reduce some of that clutter--both physically and emotionally and "thinkily." I can't think of the right term, so I hope you understand what I mean.

Mom's arrival has also displaced certain things in house / life, such as my charging station. I have a small plastic hook situated over one corner of the dining room bench seat where all my charging cables hung. The little charging bricks, along with my air pods and my Bluetooth speaker, used to sit lined up along the back of the bench. When I needed to charge something...I chose the appropriate cable and the correct charging brick and plugged it in.

Well that's not available anymore because that's where Mom has taken up daily residence. So my new charging station is now on the shelving side of the desk where I've placed new hooks and have a plug-in USB hub.

Any who... here are the before and after pictures of my space.

BEFORE: The pics were taken from the door.

This last pic was taken from behind my set-up. The door is to the right.

If you want to see the pics of my empty-ish office, click here...

 AFTER:

Notice the lack of red, white, and blue lights now. A section of one string burned out and when I went to flip the string around, the whole thing wouldn't light back up any longer. So I need a new set of lights. I'm hoping for one long one of the correct length, rather than three I have to string together with the big mangled "knot" of connecting ends hanging on my wall.

See that shelving unit on the one side. I love that. It was a selling point. That lamp won't live there forever. Gonna move it to the corner behind the dog bed (I'll put a cube shelf thing there) once I buy some better lamps for the desk area.

I still have some work to do, but it's coming along and I'm much happier, more comfortable, and much more productive.

Have a super week...

P.S. ~ The Colorado Avalanche swept the Oilers and now I'm waiting for the results of the TBL / NYR series.

C'mon, Rangers!

Before & After

It's not much, to be honest...I didn't do any work, DD did. And also no major changes were made--just an addition to our kitchen as we prepare for my mom's arrival. We were just getting by with the amount of food storage space we have, cabinet wise. But adding another person along with the additional stores required has pushed the need for some additional space into the "must address" category up from "would be nice."

To that end, I bought a little cabinet. And we went from this...

To this...

It's not quite as tall as I pictured it, despite, yes, having the dimensions...

And there's still no food in it, because deciding what to move around does take some thought. And I have to take all the space into consideration. Do I want to re-arrange everything? What would work best in the free-standing cabinet versus what would work best remaining in the installed cabinetry.

It'll be a bit like Tetris, which I love and was rather good at back in the day when I played it a lot. :0)

I am slowly crossing things off the "Prep For Mom" to-do list.

Have a super week...

Before And After

I love Christmas / fairy lights. I've shared that I have a string of red / white / blue lights along the chair rail in my office. They are set on a timer and are glowing and waiting for me when I get up in the morning.

Pulling down the Christmas tree is always sad for me merely because of the loss of the glow & ambiance in the living room.

So I decided I wanted to keep the warm glow to my living room. Now, years ago, I painted the living room with two colors and an interesting paint job and I wanted to put my new lights along the line that separates the two paint colors.

So I went from this...

Just FYI, the front wall is all blue.

And here's the result:

And I love the way it turned out.

Have a great week, my friends!

Merry Christmas...

And the shopping is done. I ran out and bought the last gift yesterday afternoon. The tree is up & decorated and the presents are wrapped and waiting patiently for their unveiling in just three weeks' time.

The best part is that with the shopping and the wrapping done so far in advance, I can really enjoy the holiday season.

I've decorated as much as I'm going to I think, unless I get a wild hair in the next couple of weeks...but that's unlikely!

Here's my before and my after...

And yes, sadly, there are two sections of lights that have now burned out...I'll have to either find the extra bulbs and go through replacing each one in turn or just string in new lights next year...

Hope you had a lovely weekend and here's to a  good / productive week.

Take care.

Before and After

Last week I mentioned I was going to clean out the flower bed. And I did. It looks one hundred times better!

You sorta got a glimpse of how bad it was in the picture of the Sweet Williams. Remember...

Here's a picture of the whole thing before...

And after about twenty minutes of work, here's how it looks now...

Huge difference, huh? Of course, there's a pile of leaves and weeds just outside this shot. I didn't have any yard bags, otherwise they'd have been bagged while I was out there.

Best of all I discovered that one of the Double Shasta Daisy plants *and* the Gerber Daisy plant that the Brown Eyed Girl gave me are still alive! Look...

 The Shasta Daisies.

 The Gerber Daisies.

The Gerbers are nothing more than tender green shoots at this point, but I was very excited to see them.

I'm very glad spring has finally arrived. How about you?
