TGIF

Of course, we all love the weekend, but I have succumbed to the nasty cold/flu bug that has been going around. I'm on my third day, but am planning to rest all weekend. I have stocked up on the honey/lemon/ginger concoction, facial tissue, and have enough water to keep me in water and hot tea.

DH has been battling it for close to two weeks now and has made me promise to take time off work if I'm feeling that awful. He didn't when he should have and now he's paying for it. I have duly promised.

I've also downloaded enough reading material to stock a small library.

Let the healing begin!

Stay warm and healthy and have a super weekend.

BAND OF THE WEEK

We had a football game last night and it rained again. It was also supposed to be Middle School Night for us. This when our feeder school bands come to the game to play with us. Unfortunately, they were late and so in turn we were late. Plus it was raining and it was *COLD*. And for some reason they changed venues on us again. (WHY???) Had we stayed with our original stadium, we would not have been (as) late.

By the time we got to the stadium, it was decided that the middle schoolers would get their snacks and then go back to their schools. As far as we were concerned, the show would go on. Sort of. Only the drum line would get to play. Luckily we were the away team, so we weren't responsible for playing the Star Spangled Banner.

The other team's band played the SSB and then left. Their cheerleaders left. Their drill team left. They had three--and I mean THREE--people on their side of the stadium.

When our band marched into the stands, our team was losing, 6 to 0. The drill team was in place and the cheerleaders moved on to the track and off we went. Our drum line played cadences and kept us all going. Yes, it was cold, yes, it was wet. But the rain sort of stopped for a while, so it really wasn't too bad. At least I didn't think so and I am not fond of the cold by any stretch of the imagination.

When our team finally made a touchdown, the band SANG the fight song!! Cool, huh? :) I wish I'd had my camera to get a picture of that.

We left at half time, winning 9 to 6. I was told the game was called at that point as it was too cold for the players on the sidelines.

So I nominate the Highlander Band as the band of the week for the FWISD.

Go Hills!

Brr...It's Freakin' Cold Here

It's twenty degrees Fahrenheit as I type. The car was a bit frosty this morning but no scraping needed as I started it a good fifteen minutes before I left. Cold is not my favorite season and I'm very thankful that we only get *this* cold sporadically. My knees do not like it one bit.

It's going to be another fairly quiet weekend. Hubby will be working on a forensic case most of Saturday and helping a friend on Sunday. I have a meeting at Cowboys Stadium on Saturday in preparation for working during the Super Bowl, but other than that and laundry, the weekend is mine.

My plans--to write my requisite 2500 words, listen to a writing workshop or two and apply the lessons to a current WIP or two or three, work on my website director job description and the procedures for my writing chapter's Procedure Manual (a document I should have written two years ago when I last held the position!), and work on my "Website Primer for Dummies" tutorial.

I'm trying to provide some basic training for any chapter mates who are so inclined to learn with an eye to possibly doing my job when I can't any longer. A person can only be in any one board position for two years and on the board for four before having to step down for at least one year. Last year was my down year.

Other than that, I am in website director mode, adding a few things to our site and doing a little housekeeping.

Have a great weekend!

Brr...

There should not be icicles in North Texas. There just shouldn't.

Currently it is 18*F. With the wind chill, it feels like 5*.

Amazingly they did not close our schools. They planned ahead and schools are open. Some districts did close, but not ours.

However, I wish I were at home now, snuggled on the sofa sleeping through my favorite movie.

Hope you're keeping warm, wherever you are.

Acclimation...

It's cold here in North Texas! Overnight we had lows in the twenties. Brrr!

When I took my daughter to school it was still just below freezing. While I wore my scarf and gloves, I did go without a coat--I'm trying to get ready for the real cold in Nebraska. (I will wear a coat up there for sure, though!)

My brother said it was pretty cold there right now...And I can't wait to enjoy a white (or even greyish) Christmas. It's been ten years since I spent Christmas in a snowy place. Maybe God will give me an added blessing of a fresh coat of snow overnight on Christmas--just to clean up the little part of the world where I'll be.
FYI- I shamelessly stole this from the Internet--this is not North Texas, but this is what I long to see...

Speaking of snow, do you have a special memory featuring that fluffy white stuff? Do share... (I'll share mine later.)
