The US Goes Back to Space

What should have been forefront in the news and much cause for celebration has been pushed aside due to more pressing and saddening events taking place across our nation.

But I'd like to give the Space Launch its due. For the first time in close to a decade, the US went to space. It was so fun to watch. And is hopefully just the first step on our way to a Space Force, which we are in desperate need of.

So I took some pictures of the TV and I'd like to commemorate that.

ONE THOUSAND BLOG POSTS

So eight or so years ago, because in the romance writing world, aspiring writers were encouraged to establish an online presence prior to becoming published. I also just wanted my own little corner of the Internet.

If I was going to have a vast readership at some point, I didn't want to blog about the nuts and bolts of writing. There were enough people out there already with more experience and knowledge on the subject and coming from the other side of the fence (a fan person), when I visit the website or blog of a person of interest to me, I want to connect with the person. Learn about them and whatever part of their life they feel compelled to share.

So I decided to just randomly blog about me, my life, my interests, etc. If you find them interesting or even amusing, well, thanks, and I'm glad. If you don't or didn't, I'm sure you've moved on and stopped visiting. The added bonus was that my mom could sort of follow along since I'm terrible about phone calls. (Sorry, Mom.) The unexpected value add was that I have a diary of sorts (public and shallow though it is) of what's been going on in my life for the last five years at least, as well as my fleeting and more long term interests.

At first it was random, but I finally got into a regular routine, and eight years later, I have 1000 blog posts under my belt.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

It's my birthday today, though that's not my cake... If I made a cake, it'd be pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting.

As mentioned, Wednesday, I received my birthday present and my cool new purse. I ordered some stuff for my Sherlock sampler and at least one of those packages will arrive today, so it'll be like more presents!

And then I get to leave work early today and go enjoy annual JAG get together weekend with the JAG contingent of my friends.

Sunday will be lunch with some other lovely ladies and then dinner with the family.

So it's been a wonderful birthday week!!

I'd also like to send congratulations to my friend Lara, who occasionally stops by the blog--she and her hubster have welcomed their new baby into the world. CONGRATS!!!

How I spent my FIFTH of July...

Of course, the 4th we were busy selling fireworks, but we found a place to go shoot a show and so here is some photographic evidence that we did get to celebrate, albeit a day late...

First off, however, I generally try to purchase a new tee shirt for the occasion and this is what I found this year...I couldn't not buy it.

Is it me or what???

Family of DD's friend opened up their property for us and so...

COUNTRY LIFE - I WANTS IT!!!

Reyna had fun running around in that much space and played with the grasshoppers.

And lastly, what post about Fourth of July would be complete without fireworks??

Hope your celebrations were as fun!!

Cel-A-Brate Good Times, C'mon!!!

Today is a good good day!!

First, I spoke with the band director last night and he welcomed my presence on the bus and at games and any amount of assistance I am willing to offer. So, whew!

I kept thinking about one thing Regina said Wednesday--and she always has a great perspective on things. She said she regretted the things she missed but never the things she attended. And she was right. I would've hated missing being at even one game. I mentioned Cowboy Stadium events and he doesn't seem like he's going to be as fanatical about them as our previous director, so that's good.

Anyway Friday Night Lights start tonight, and as always, our first game, more of an exhibition game, is across the Metroplex in another district. Woo hoo! Bring it on and more about the game probably Monday. Probably including pics 'cause I guess I also serve as the unofficial photographer.

(This was UIL last October.)

Second, this is post #700! Can you believe it?? It seems just like yesterday I hit #500. I started way back in 2007, and my posts were hit and miss. I didn't start getting regular and prolific until 2011... And I've noted that since the beginning of this year my page views have doubled on average. That's so cool. I don't know who you all are--if you're really reading or just coming across me on accident, but it's still exciting. I hope a few more of you might comment every now and again. I'd love to have that interaction with you, meet you, get to know you a bit.

Third, my mini-weight-loss goal of reaching 137 lbs. by September 1. Well, that's Sunday. Today's Friday. For the past couple of days, my morning weight is 137.x and my evening weight is 139.x. I'm going to consider it a win. Mainly because the intent of the goal was to get under and stay under the 140 lb. mark. I won't feel super comfy splurging for a few more days, but I'm happy and excited and proud of myself for finally getting over this hurdle.

Fourth, it's a three-day weekend!!! I'm gonna spend time in my yard and cleaning the house and relaxing. No pressure on the house- or yard- work. Just getting stuff done here and there.

I have lots of things to celebrate. What about you??

What can you celebrate??

A Time to Celebrate!

On Saturday, July 19, hubby and I will celebrate 15 years of marriage. Woo hoo!!!

There were a couple of years I didn't think we'd make it, but here we are, more happily married than we've ever been.

So back in 1993, we were living in Omaha, Nebraska while hubby was in the Air Force and stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. With my sister and brother as unofficial witnesses (turns out they were too young to be official ones), we drove to South Dakota where there is no blood test/waiting period and were married in Union County (city of Elk Point, although I had to look that up) South Dakota. (Many of hubby's co-workers and friends though I was PG and that was why we were running off to tie the knot so quickly. That wasn't the case, if you're wondering. Our son wasn't born until seventeen months later ;)

To celebrate we'll be having dinner at the new Fort Worth location of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, wandering around downtown, and then spending the night in the Renaissance Worthington.
